Hello y'all I'm new here from Woodstock Georgia. I have a 76 C10 250 6 cylinder with a fuel problem. I have replaced tank, sending unit, fuel pump (twice) rebuilt the carb, replaced fuel filter and replaced the fuel line from tank to pump. It still cuts out under high rpm and before you coast to a stop it will start running. HELP

Have you checked everything in the ignition system? Does it have the original points style distributor or has it been swapped out an HEI distributor. Sounds like a possible ignition coil issue.

It has factory HEI system I'm not sure how to test the coil when the truck runs.

Ok, I was thinking those still had a points system, been a minute since I've worked on anything that old. Have you replaced any of the ignition system, cap, rotor, coil, wires or plugs recently?

Something else caught my eye, when you rebuilt the carb, did you get the float level and float drop set correctly? If the float level is too low you'll basically run out of gas and it'll refill while your coasting.

No I haven't yet the cap rotor and wires look good. I was thinking maybe ign module or dist pickup.

I checked it again to be sure after I built it. That was my thought also.

It could be the module but usually those just quit working when they go bad, usually but not always. The pickup is the same way and so is the coil. I know it's not cheap but a full tune-up would be where I'd start. Things can look good but be the opposite. Plus you might get the benefit of better fuel mileage and with the cost of gasoline these days, better fuel mileage is a good thing. If you were going to do one or two things at a time I'd start with plugs and a coil and see how it runs. If no improvement then I'd do the module, those can break down and act up when they get warm, just like the coil.
